Our mission is to broaden the skills, knowledge and motivation within the community by identifying opportunities in employment, education, job training and adequate living conditions. This mission compels the CAP to encourage the support of the community of Tolleson by empowering families and individuals to attain self-sufficiency with the right to live in dignity. We will take pride in serving our clients with respect and a friendly attitude and not limit ourselves to the customary approaches in meeting the needs of our clients.

CARES ACT Rental Assistance Program

As a partner agency of Maricopa County Human Services Department, the Tolleson Community Action Program office will be able to assist households who have experienced financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact the Tolleson Community Action Program (CAP) office for qualifications. Intakes will be performed by staff Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Eligible households may receive rental assistance, if they are unable to pay their rent due to a reduction or loss of income, health and safety concern, or a crisis event that can be supported with documentation. The financial hardship must be directly related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Required Documentation:

  • Proof of identity of primary applicant
  • Proof of residential address
  • Current lease agreement
  • Proof of gross earned and unearned income for 30 days prior to the date of application
  • Proof of hardship due to COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Sign a Benefit Assistance Affidavit
  • (Citizenship is not a requirement)

Please contact the Tolleson CAP office at 623-936-2760 for assistance and a staff member will guide you through the application process. All appointments are handled in a first come first served basis. You must be a Tolleson resident in order to qualify for assistance.

El personal recibirá llamadas para este programa de lunes a jueves de 8:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m. Los hogares elegibles pueden recibir asistencia para pagar la renta, si no la pueden pagar debido a una reducción o pérdida de ingresos, problemas de salud y seguridad, o un evento de crisis que puede ser respaldado con documentación. Las dificultades financieras deben estar directamente relacionadas con la pandemia COVID-19.

Documentos Requeridos:

  • Prueba de identidad del Solicitante Principal (ID)
  • Prueba de domicilio residencial
  • Contrato de arrendamiento actual
  • Prueba de ingresos por 30 días antes de la fecha de solicitud
  • Prueba de dificultades debido a la pandemia de COVID 19
  • Firmar una declaración jurada de asistencia de beneficios
  • (La ciudadanía no es un requisito)
